Last year, Preston Pride made the difficult decision not to include political parties at our event. This was in direct response to the Supreme Court Ruling regarding the definition of sex and the way it was being interpreted, which was already causing harm to trans people in our community.
Sadly, the impact of that ruling has continued into 2026 with the issuing of the EHRC guidance, and national political parties have not taken a clear or meaningful stance against the current direction. We know many local members and grassroots activists stand with us, but without national leadership showing visible opposition, we cannot guarantee that trans people will feel safe or supported by party representation at Pride.
Because of this, we are continuing our position from last year: political parties will not be participating in Preston Pride 2026. This decision is rooted in care, solidarity, and our commitment to protecting our trans siblings.
